Filkins is a small village in West Oxfordshire, located just southwest of Carterton and sharing its civil parish with Broughton Poggs.
It's the sort of place that gives you a real sense of how people actually live in this part of the Cotswolds, rather than what you might see on a postcard. The stone cottages and surrounding countryside make it worth a stop if you're keen to get away from the more crowded spots, and there are some good walks to be had in the area. The village itself has that characteristic Cotswolds stone architecture you'd expect, but without the crowds that can gather in some of the better-known villages nearby. If you're heading this way, you'll find it a peaceful spot to stretch your legs and get a feel for rural West Oxfordshire life.
