This small village in Oxfordshire sits alongside the River Windrush, just a couple of miles west of Witney.
You'll find it's the kind of place where you can spend a peaceful afternoon walking along the riverbank or exploring the surrounding countryside without dealing with crowds. The village itself is modest in scale, but that's genuinely part of what makes it appealing—you get a real sense of rural Oxfordshire life rather than something packaged for visitors.
The main reason to come here is the landscape. There are good walking routes that follow the Windrush valley, offering pleasant paths through meadows and woodland. The river itself is attractive for a stroll and popular with locals who know the area well. Like most Cotswolds villages, Curbridge has a church that reflects centuries of settlement in the area.
It works best as part of a larger exploration of the region. You're close enough to Witney that you can easily visit both in a day trip, stopping here for a walk before heading into town for lunch or shopping. The location also puts you within reasonable distance of other attractions like Burford and Woodstock. If you're looking for somewhere to base yourself for walking and getting to know the quieter side of Oxfordshire, you'll find genuine village character here without any pretension.
