Chipping Norton Golf Club sits just outside Heythrop village and welcomes golfers of all levels to play its 18-hole course.
The greens are well maintained and you get proper views across the rolling countryside as you play, which makes for an enjoyable day out whatever your handicap. As a visitor you can usually book a tee time without trouble, and once you've finished there's a clubhouse where you can grab food and drinks, plus a pro shop if you need to pick up any kit.
Playing a round here is a good way to see how the landscape changes across the area while getting some exercise in. It's only a short drive from Chipping Norton itself, which is a proper market town with decent shops, cafes, and pubs worth stopping at. If you're thinking of using the course as a base for exploring further afield, both Stow-on-the-Wold and Burford are easy to reach from here, so you can fit in a round of golf alongside visits to other parts of the Cotswolds without spending all your time driving around.
