Established in 1957 in Bourton-on-the-Water, Birdland is set in nine acres of gardens and woodland, creating a picturesque canopy for the winding River Windrush.
Discover exotic and rare birds as you explore the Park and Gardens. Flamingos, pelicans, cranes, storks, cassowary and waterfowl live in our riverside habitat with parrots, owls, pheasants, hornbills, touracos and many more inhabiting over 50 aviaries. Temperate and Desert Houses are home to birds who enjoy hotter and drier conditions.
Sit back and relax at the Flamingo Point Café for morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea with wonderful views over River Windrush and its resident group of flamingos.
Walk on the Wildside - Explore Marshmouth Nature reserve – a beautiful secluded 2.5 acre trail through marshland, ponds, meadow and copse with views over the River Windrush.

Penguins are fascinating, funny and entertaining, and as well as Humboldts, Birdland is also home to England’s only collection of King Penguins. In the wild there are 17 species of penguin, which is a group of flightless birds designed for speed in water rather than the air.

Nine acres of gardens and woodland along the Windrush, holding more than five hundred birds across fifty-odd aviaries.

The penguins are the draw: this is home to England’s only breeding group of king penguins, alongside Humboldts, with feeds each day. A walk-through parrot collection and a dinosaur trail fill out the visit.

The compact layout is the point for younger children — there is little walking between enclosures, so it suits an hour or two rather than the full day a larger park demands. Open daily from mid-morning, all year, except Christmas Day.
