around Cropredy

Cropredy is a small village north of Banbury, the sort of place you come to for a slow morning rather than a packed itinerary. The Oxford Canal runs through it, and much of what there is to do sits within a couple of miles: six places to eat and drink, four activities, a pair of shops, two places to stay and a local service. It suits walkers, boaters, gardeners and anyone happy to let an afternoon unfold at its own pace, and it works equally well as a quiet base for exploring the wider north Oxfordshire countryside.

A good few hours might start at Cropredy Waterside and Marina, watching narrowboats come and go before following the towpath into the village. The Cropredy Village Trail gives you a route and some background if you'd rather have a bit of structure to your wander. Break for coffee and something warm at Mulberry Cafe, or take a longer lunch at SOUK. Afterwards, Barn Farm Plants is worth the short drive if you've room in the boot, and Banbury Antiques Centre rewards a proper rummage before you head home.
