Along the River Avon near Wyre Piddle sits a working marina that genuinely pulses with activity.

You'll see a real mix of leisure boats moored here—narrowboats, cruisers, and all manner of waterway craft—which makes for compelling watching if you want to spend an afternoon observing the comings and goings. The Anchor Inn sits right on the water's edge, so you can settle in with a drink and soak up the atmosphere without moving far. If you want to experience the river itself, boat hire is usually on offer, letting you take to the water and explore the gentler sections of the Avon at your own speed. Flat walking paths run along the riverbank and are perfect for an unhurried wander through the Worcestershire landscape, with decent chances of spotting birds and other wildlife. The Avon has shaped this area for centuries, starting out as a trade route before becoming what it is now—a centre for leisure and recreation. Pershore is just a short drive away, a working market town built around its impressive abbey with plenty of independent retailers worth browsing. Evesham, the larger neighbouring town famous for its market gardens and its pivotal role in the Battle of Evesham, is equally easy to reach. Both make natural extensions to a visit here.
