This Worcestershire market town sits in the heart of the Vale of Evesham, positioned roughly between Evesham and Upton-upon-Severn.
With around seven thousand residents, it's the kind of place where you can actually see how English market towns work, without feeling swamped by visitors.
The main reason to come is Pershore Abbey, which anchors the town center. What survives today is genuinely striking—a substantial portion of the original medieval abbey church, built over centuries starting in Saxon times. The stonework is really something, and you can spend proper time exploring both the structure and its grounds, getting a genuine sense of the area's religious history.
Beyond the abbey, the town has all the character you'd expect from a functioning market town. The High Street hosts independent shops, cafes, and pubs where you'll see locals going about their business. The River Avon runs alongside, with a pleasant walking route if you want to get some movement in. The surrounding Vale of Evesham is renowned for fruit and vegetable growing, so depending on the season, you'll understand why the landscape appears so fertile and productive.
Pershore works well as a base for exploring this part of Worcestershire, or as a worthwhile detour if you're traveling between other destinations in the region.
