Weston-sub-Edge sits on the edge of the Cotswold escarpment in Gloucestershire, offering genuine countryside atmosphere without the crowds that descend on bigger tourist spots.

The village centres around a green where locals actually gather, complete with a proper pub and a few shops that serve the community rather than just passing visitors.

What really brings people here is the landscape. You're positioned right where the hills drop away dramatically, giving you access to some excellent walking routes across open fields and through woodland. The escarpment edge delivers surprisingly expansive views across the Vale of Evesham, and on clear days you can see well beyond the immediate valley. It's the sort of place where you can spend an afternoon rambling and encounter very few other people.

The village has medieval roots, visible in the old stone buildings that hint at a deeper history than its current quiet state suggests. St Lawrence Church, situated on the higher ground, dates back centuries and is worth popping into if the door happens to be open.

Weston-sub-Edge works best as a base for exploring on foot rather than as a destination in itself. Chipping Campden and Moreton-in-Marsh are both within easy driving distance if you need shops, restaurants, or more formal attractions. But if you're after genuine countryside and straightforward walks without fuss, you've found the right spot.
