Most people visit for the views, and they're genuinely impressive. On a clear day you can see right across the Severn Vale to the Malvern Hills and into Wales, which really gives you a sense of how the landscape spreads out. It's excellent for walking—you can take a gentle stroll or tackle something more serious along the nearby Cotswold Way. You'll share the open ground with local sheep and golfers from the adjacent course.
Cheltenham sits just down the hill and has everything you might need if you want food, shopping, or other attractions. Winchcombe, a traditional market town with genuine character, is equally accessible from here. The combination of Roman history, those expansive views, and easy access to both towns makes this worth including in a northern Cotswolds route. The site rewards a bit of time—especially if you enjoy landscapes and walking—and it's the kind of place that stays with you after you've moved on.
