The Oxford Shirt Co is a family-run clothing shop at 54 High Street in Burford, and the flagship store of a company that sells its shirts across the country.
Opening hours
- Mon–Sat
- 10:00–17:00
- Sun, Public holidays
- 10:30–16:30
Shirt-making has been at the heart of the business since Neil Lauder founded it more than 30 years ago, and the next generation grew up working weekends on the shop floor.
As the name suggests, Oxford shirts are the speciality, in a wide range of colours and styles designed to work for smart and casual wear alike. The shop also stocks knitwear and accessories, and visitors mention a good choice of clothes for both men and women, with staff on hand to help with fit and advice.
The company makes a point of its environmental efforts: it plants a tree for every purchase, uses fully recyclable packaging, and some of its floors are laid with reclaimed scaffold boards from building work at Balliol, Trinity and St John's colleges in Oxford.
The shop is a few doors from The Mermaid and The Cotswold Arms, and about 130 metres along the High Street from the Tolsey Museum. It is open every day, with shorter hours on Sundays and bank holidays.
