The Coln Gallery is located in the village of Stratton, just a short drive from Cirencester, and offers a relaxed way to spend time if contemporary art interests you.
The gallery gives you plenty of space to wander through at your own pace, with regularly changing exhibitions showcasing work from working artists across different styles and mediums. You might find something genuinely worth taking home, whether that's a piece for your wall or a smaller memento of your visit. The village itself rewards a slow walk around, with the characteristic honey-coloured stone buildings that tell you plenty about the area's history and character. Because Stratton sits so close to Cirencester, you can easily combine the two into an afternoon or half-day trip. Head into town to explore the Roman sites, browse the independent shops, or find a cafe or restaurant for something to eat. It's a nice way to experience both sides of the Cotswolds at once—the quieter village atmosphere alongside the busier energy of a proper market town just a few minutes away.
