This small village sits right on the Cotswold Way, the 102-mile National Trail that runs along the dramatic edge of the Cotswold Hills.
It's an ideal stopping point if you're walking the full route or just exploring this section of the escarpment on foot.
The real draw here is the location. You're positioned at a natural vantage point where the landscape opens up dramatically, with views stretching out across the Vale of Evesham below. The village itself is modest, with traditional stone buildings typical of the area, but what keeps people coming back is the walking. The Cotswold Way passes directly through here, so you can join or leave the trail easily, or use it as a base for shorter day walks along the escarpment.
The area has long been important for transport and trade, sitting along routes that have connected communities for centuries. Today, walkers enjoy the same paths, though now for the pleasure of the countryside rather than commerce.
Evesham is about eight miles away, close enough for supplies and accommodation if you need them, but Stoulton itself feels properly remote once you're in the hills. Come with proper walking shoes and an appreciation for being outdoors. There aren't shops or restaurants to speak of, but that's not really what this place is about. It's a walker's village through and through, and that's precisely what makes it worth visiting.
