You'll find Standish Park near Pitchcombe, an impressive country estate that's shaped this corner of the Cotswolds for centuries.

The main house largely dates from the 17th and 18th centuries, though the land has been held by important families since medieval times, making it a genuine example of a long-established English manor. Since it's a private residence, the interior isn't open to visitors, but you can still appreciate the scale and character of the place by walking the public footpaths that cross the surrounding countryside. A stroll through the local lanes gives you a real sense of the historic landscape and the grounds the estate commands, and honestly, that's often more rewarding than touring a house anyway.

The area is excellent for walking, with plenty of routes letting you take in the landscape at your own pace. The footpaths around the estate and through the wider countryside offer good opportunities to explore on foot. When you've had enough of the countryside air, Painswick is just a short drive away with a pleasant village atmosphere and decent spots for refreshments. If you're after more substantial amenities or want to explore somewhere with proper market-town facilities, Stroud is equally close and offers considerably more shops, restaurants, and services to choose from.
