When you want to experience the Cotswolds from a different perspective, head to Westonbirt, The National Arboretum.

The main draw here is the STIHL Treetop Walkway, a modern structure that opened in 2016 and lets you explore among the tree canopy in a way that's genuinely novel. The gently rising walkway winds through the trees, taking you high above the forest floor so you can appreciate the scale and beauty of the woodland from an intimate vantage point. As you make your way along, you'll get sweeping views across the extensive collection of trees and stand a good chance of spotting local wildlife from this elevated angle. The walkway is fully accessible, so it's something everyone can experience together.

The arboretum itself has been a valued green space since the mid-19th century, and this contemporary addition brings something fresh to an already established destination. It's a really effective way to spend a few hours connecting with nature without being rushed.

The location works well as a base for exploring further. You're just a short drive from Tetbury, which is well known for its antique shops, and from historic Malmesbury with its ancient abbey. It's easy to combine a morning or afternoon here with visits to these nearby market towns.
