This is actually three villages that function as one community, spread across the Sib Valley on the northern edge of the Cotswolds in Oxfordshire.
Sibford Gower, Sibford Ferris, and Burdrop sit close to the Warwickshire border and share most of what you'd need for a visit, though you'll find them quite spread out along the valley.
The Gower is where you'll find the pub and village hall, making it the social hub. Head to Ferris for the village shop and to see Sibford School, which offers insight into local education heritage if that interests you. The parish church is in Burdrop, a layout that reflects how these valleys were settled centuries ago.
Walking here is genuinely rewarding. The Sib Valley itself provides good rambling country with views across farmland and woodland, and the villages connect naturally to wider Cotswolds footpaths. It's the kind of place where you can spend an afternoon wandering without much planning and discover interesting stone buildings, old bridleways, and proper countryside.
The name comes from a fording place across the River Sib, and that water still defines the landscape today. Banbury is about six miles away if you need larger shops or restaurants, while Chipping Norton and Hook Norton are also within easy reach. It's genuinely quiet here, which is precisely the appeal.
