This 16th-century coaching inn sits on Broadway's High Street and has hosted some considerable figures throughout its long history, including King Charles I and Oliver Cromwell.

The building shows all the hallmarks of its age—stone walls, timber beams, and substantial fireplaces that feel genuinely old rather than artificially restored. Walking through the corridors gives you a tangible sense of how people actually moved through this space centuries ago.

Today it operates as a luxury hotel, with bedrooms that combine modern comfort alongside genuine period features. Many rooms retain their original architectural elements, so you're staying within actual history rather than a staged recreation. Dining runs from formal restaurant service to afternoon tea in more casual spaces, and there's a spa and pool if you want to offset the historical surroundings with contemporary facilities.

Broadway itself warrants exploration beyond the hotel walls. The village has become a genuine destination in its own right, with independent shops and galleries along the High Street, and Broadway Tower is just a short walk away if you want to climb up for views across the wider countryside. Chipping Campden is close by as well, making this a solid base for properly getting to know this area of the Cotswolds. You could easily spend several days here with plenty left to discover.
