Set in the heart of the southern Cotswolds, this arboretum holds an extraordinary collection of trees from around the world.

What began as Robert Holford's vision in the mid-19th century has grown into one of the most significant botanical collections you'll find anywhere. Walking the beautifully maintained pathways, you'll encounter everything from towering redwoods to delicate Japanese maples, with the landscape changing in genuinely engaging ways around every corner.

Each season brings something different to appreciate. Autumn draws crowds with brilliant reds and golds, while spring arrives with vibrant blossoms, summer offers natural shade for wandering, and winter walks have their own distinctive charm. There's a treetop walkway if you fancy experiencing things from the canopy level, along with various trails designed for families. The whole place has a spacious, unhurried feel – the kind of environment where you can genuinely lose yourself in nature.

Located just a short drive from Tetbury and Malmesbury, this makes an excellent stop while exploring the wider region. Whether you're a keen botanist or simply someone who enjoys spending time outdoors among beautiful landscape, there's plenty here to justify a proper visit. You don't need to be particularly interested in horticulture to appreciate what's on offer – the sheer scale and variety of the trees alone make it worth your time.
