Bank Cottage B&B sits in Twyning, a genuinely quiet village where you can actually hear yourself think.

Hardwick Bank Road, GL20 7ED

It's the sort of place that works well as a base if you want to spend your days exploring the wider area but return somewhere peaceful to rest. Breakfasts are proper ones, the kind that set you up properly for whatever you decide to do next.

The village itself is worth spending time in on foot. There are pleasant lanes to wander, a good local pub, and the River Avon is close enough for a longer walk if you want one. Nothing flashy, just the kind of slow exploration that makes for a good day.

What really works about staying here is the geography. Tewkesbury is barely a short drive away with its famous Abbey and the impressive timber-framed buildings scattered through the town. Upton upon Severn offers a nice riverside setting and proper independent shops if you want to browse. Push a bit further and you've got Gloucester with its cathedral and the docks to explore, or Cheltenham if you want Regency architecture and a decent cultural scene. So you get the benefit of genuine countryside peace without being cut off from the kind of historic towns that are actually worth visiting. It's a sensible spot if you want both quiet mornings and interesting days out.
