This small hamlet within Tewkesbury Borough in Gloucestershire sits in genuine countryside that forms part of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
You'll experience actual rural life here without the tourist machinery you'd find in larger villages, which makes it genuinely peaceful if that's what you're after during a Cotswolds visit.
The green itself is where the community gathers, and it's a good place to sit quietly and watch village life happen. The lanes around it are superb for walking, with footpaths threading through farmland and woodland typical of this part of the region. The terrain is gently rolling rather than dramatic, so most people can manage the walks regardless of fitness level.
For practical purposes, Twyning Green works best as part of a bigger trip rather than a destination on its own. Tewkesbury is very close and definitely worth the short journey for its medieval abbey and position along the Severn. Winchcombe offers more facilities and things to do if you need them. You're also within reasonable reach of Cheltenham and Gloucester should you want indoor activities on a poor weather day.
If you stay overnight in the hamlet itself, you'll really feel the quiet. Alternatively, base yourself in a nearby town and use Twyning Green as a walking hub. The local pubs in surrounding villages are handy for a drink or meal after spending time on the footpaths.
