Woodland

in Cranham

Illustration — photo coming soon

Just outside the village of Cranham, you'll find a substantial stretch of woodland that genuinely feels like stepping away from everything.

A network of footpaths winds through the established trees, so whether you're after a leisurely stroll or a proper walk, there's something to suit you. The woodland is particularly worth visiting in spring, when wildflowers spread across the forest floor and bluebells put on quite a show. As you move through the trees, you've got decent chances of spotting roe deer and various woodland birds going about their business.

This has been continuously forested for centuries, which means it's a real anchor point for the Cotswolds' natural landscape. There's something genuinely restorative about simply being among the trees in the quiet here. Once you've finished exploring the woods, Cranham village itself is worth a wander to see its traditional stone cottages. If you need more facilities or want to stretch your visit further, Painswick functions as a working market town nearby, while Stroud, with better shops and restaurants, is only a short drive away. Cheltenham, with its notable Regency buildings and comprehensive range of amenities, is also easily accessible from here.
