Heading west from Winchcombe towards Langley, you'll walk through exactly the kind of landscape the region is known for: rolling hills, ancient woods, and open fields divided by dry stone walls.

The walking itself varies nicely, with gentle climbs that reward you with broad views across valleys and toward the Cotswold scarp. There's wildlife to spot in the wooded sections if you're patient, and the route carries real historical weight. This area was once central to Anglo-Saxon Winchcombe, and you'll pass near traces of much older periods, including the impressive Belas Knap Long Barrow, which tells you something about who lived here thousands of years ago. If you time it right, you might even spot the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway passing in the distance.

This works well as either a half-day walk or a longer outing, depending on how much you want to wander. Winchcombe town itself is close by afterwards, with good food and Sudeley Castle if you fancy spending more time. Broadway and Cheltenham are also nearby if you need bigger-town facilities. It's the sort of walk that really lets you experience what makes the Cotswolds feel special, with genuine solitude and proper views to match.
