This small hamlet sits in the northern reaches of the Cotswolds, about fifteen miles north of Cheltenham and positioned conveniently between Tewkesbury and Evesham.

Alderton is very much a working community rather than a tourist destination, which means you'll experience how people actually live in the countryside here rather than seeing everything through a visitor's lens.

The hamlet centres around a traditional church and scattered stone cottages that reflect the area's agricultural heritage. It's the kind of place where you can take a proper walk through genuine farmland, following footpaths that connect to the broader network of trails across this part of Gloucestershire. The surrounding countryside is rolling and open, quite different from the denser villages you'll find further south around Bourton-on-the-Water or Stow.

For visitors, Alderton works best as part of a broader exploration of the region. You might stop here while walking between Tewkesbury and Evesham, or use it as a quieter base if you prefer somewhere less busy than the popular villages. The local pub provides the expected refreshment, and being on the B4077, it's easily accessible by car if you're touring the area. It's honest countryside without pretence, which appeals if you're after something authentic rather than polished.
