This hotel sits in Ampney St.
Mary, a genuinely quiet village where you can actually hear yourself think. The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained, with the kind of atmosphere that encourages you to properly relax rather than rush through your stay. It's the sort of place where slowing down feels natural.
The village itself rewards gentle exploration. You can walk straight out into the surrounding countryside via the footpaths that crisscross the area, taking in the rolling Cotswolds landscape without needing to travel far. Life here moves at a different pace, and that's rather the point. If you want something with more energy and facilities, Cirencester is only a short drive away. It's a proper market town with good shops and restaurants, plus genuine Roman heritage if you're interested in that side of things, including a notable abbey. From here you're also well-positioned to visit other Cotswolds villages on day trips, so you get the benefit of staying somewhere genuinely peaceful while keeping major attractions within reach. It works well if you want a genuine break from routine without feeling completely cut off from everything else.
