The collection began in 1829 as a private enterprise and has evolved into an important centre for tree conservation and research, now managed by Forestry England. It's the kind of place where you could easily spend half a day or longer simply exploring. Once you're done, Tetbury and Malmesbury are both nearby if you fancy lunch or fancy a wander around their high streets before moving on.
