You'll find Whiteshill tucked between Stroud and Gloucester, home to around 1,175 people who go about their daily lives in what feels like a genuine working village rather than a tourist attraction.

That's actually one of its strengths—if you're looking to see how the Cotswolds actually functions beyond the postcard villages, this is a good place to do it.

St. Paul's Church anchors the village and stands as a reminder of Whiteshill's long history. The settlement was part of the Paganhill tithing when Stroud's parish boundaries were formally drawn up in 1304, and it remained administratively linked to Stroud for nearly six centuries until becoming its own civil parish in 1894.

The location works well for exploration in both directions. Stroud is just minutes away with its galleries, independent shops, and strong food scene, while Gloucester's cathedral and historic center are equally within reach. You've got genuine walking country surrounding you too, with quiet lanes and footpaths that link into the wider Cotswold network.

The village center has the everyday services you'd need, but the real point of visiting is using Whiteshill as a comfortable base for exploring this part of Gloucestershire. You get access to everything nearby without the crowds that descend on the more famous villages.
