Upper Quinton is a small hamlet in Warwickshire that works well as a stopping point along the Heart of England Way, a 100-mile long-distance walking trail running from Cannock Chase in the Midlands down to Bourton on the Water in the Cotswolds.
The route takes in genuinely varied landscape, connecting south Staffordshire through Warwickshire and into east Gloucestershire, and crosses six other major walking paths including the Cotswold Way and Oxfordshire Way.
The hamlet itself is quiet and rural, which is exactly why it appeals to walkers. You're far enough into a journey that the countryside feels properly wild and peaceful, yet close enough to proper villages and towns for supplies and accommodation. The landscape here is classic Midlands merging into early Cotswolds terrain, with rolling fields and working farmland rather than anything shaped by tourism.
Most people come through as walkers tackling sections of the Heart of England Way or combining it with other trails in the area. You'll understand here why people spend weeks on these routes. Upper Quinton itself has minimal facilities, so plan ahead if you're stopping, but that's part of what makes it work. Nearby Quinton and the larger town of Stratford-upon-Avon are within reasonable reach for everything else you might need.
