The Coach House is a bed-and-breakfast right in the centre of Bampton, an Oxfordshire village that works really well as a base for exploring the Cotswolds.
The rooms are comfortable and welcoming, so after a day out exploring, you'll be glad to get back for a proper rest.
Bampton has built something of a reputation because of Downton Abbey—the television series and films used the village to stand in for the fictional village of Downton, and you'll recognise St Mary's Church and the old library if you're familiar with the show. But there's plenty to do here beyond that connection. The village itself is worth a wander, with its honey-coloured stone buildings lining historic streets, and there are good local pubs for a pint and a village shop for browsing.
The location is particularly useful because it puts you within reach of different things depending on what you're after. You can head straight out for countryside walks, or use it as a jumping-off point to drive to other parts of the Cotswolds. When you want more substantial amenities—more restaurants and bigger shops—Witney is just a short drive away, and Oxford with its colleges, museums, and cultural offerings is easily managed as a day trip. You get the peace of village life without feeling isolated or far from what you might need.
