The Long Marston area sits on the border between the Cotswolds and Warwickshire, offering excellent cycling that appeals to riders of all abilities.
The main attraction here is the Stratford Greenway, a traffic-free path following the route of a disused railway line. Built on the trackbed of the former Stratford-upon-Avon and Midland Junction Railway, it provides a smooth, flat surface where you can ride without worrying about cars. The path is easy to navigate and works well for families or anyone preferring a leisurely pace.
You can join the Greenway just outside Stratford-upon-Avon and follow it through open countryside, where you'll pass remnants of the railway's industrial heritage while cycling past fields, local birds, and wildflowers. It's a peaceful ride that gives you a real sense of how the landscape has been shaped by its past.
Long Marston serves as a convenient base for exploring further. Head towards Welford-on-Avon, known for its distinctive maypole, or cycle back to Stratford-upon-Avon if you want to visit its famous theatres, historic attractions, and restaurants. The route lets you combine outdoor exercise with discovering the character of this part of the region, offering a different way to experience an area many people know quite well already.
