Dorsington is a small hamlet in the Stratford-on-Avon district, where Warwickshire meets the Cotswolds.

If you're after somewhere genuinely quiet, this is it. A handful of properties scatter along lanes that see far more sheep than cars, and the whole place has the feel of somewhere that's simply got on with life for centuries without worrying much about visitors.

At its heart stands the Church of St Peter, a medieval building worth stopping to see if you appreciate older architecture, though do check opening times before you go. Beyond that, the real draw is the landscape itself. You get rolling fields, dry stone walls, and that distinctive honey-coloured stone that defines the Cotswolds, all within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Walking the lanes here gives you a genuine sense of the English countryside without any pretence or performance.

Most people use Dorsington as a base rather than a destination in itself. Stratford-upon-Avon is around twenty minutes north if you want the full Shakespeare experience and all that comes with it. Shipston-on-Stour, about five miles south, is a proper market town where you'll find shops and cafes when you need them. It's the kind of place that rewards a slow explore on foot, particularly if you're after the quieter side of the Cotswolds.
