Snows Farm Nature Reserve sits just outside Sheepscombe and gives you a genuine way to experience the Cotswolds countryside on foot.

The reserve moves between different landscapes—ancient woodland, open grasslands full of wildflowers, and the gentle valley slopes you'd expect in this part of the world. Most people spend an hour or two on the walking trails, and it's the sort of place where details reveal themselves as you go. In spring and summer you'll notice orchids, butterflies take advantage of the open ground, and there's always birdsong around you. With a bit of patience you might spot deer moving through the trees, and the views across the wider landscape are worth the walk.

The Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust looks after the reserve, managing the different habitats to keep the wildlife thriving. When you need a break, Sheepscombe village is essentially right there, making it perfect for tea or lunch. Painswick lies nearby if you want to visit its famous Rococo Garden, and Stroud, the larger market town, is close enough for a day out and offers more facilities and things to do. You could easily spend a morning here alone or combine it with other activities in the area.
