This small village sits in the southern reaches of Warwickshire, right where the landscape rolls into Cotswolds territory.

Ratley is a working community rather than a tourist hub, with stone cottages and a village church that has stood for centuries. The area is genuinely rural, giving you a real sense of what the English countryside feels like beyond the busy market towns.

The main draw here is the peaceful setting and excellent walking. Footpaths crisscross the surrounding farmland in every direction, and you can spend hours exploring them or simply wandering around to appreciate the traditional architecture and the unhurried pace of village life. The Church of Saint Peter is worth visiting if you find it open, as these small medieval churches often contain fascinating local history.

Ratley's location makes it a useful base for exploring the wider region. Stratford-upon-Avon lies about twenty minutes away with Shakespeare's birthplace and riverside walks, while Shipston-on-Stour and Henley-in-Arden are both nearby for shops and amenities. The Cotswolds AONB stretches across the surrounding countryside, offering plenty of fine rambling country. Ratley itself is best experienced as part of a slower, countryside-focused visit rather than as a destination in its own right, but that's where its real appeal lies. It's the kind of place where you genuinely feel the rhythms of rural life.
