This small hamlet sits in the heart of the Cotswolds where the landscape rolls gently between Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.

You won't find much in Henley itself beyond traditional stone cottages and farmland, but that's precisely why people come here. It's an excellent base for walking, with footpaths leading through the surrounding countryside and connecting to nearby villages within an hour's walk.

The real draw is the landscape. You're surrounded by the characteristic golden limestone hills and open grassland that define this region, and the pace of life is genuinely slow. The hamlet has a proper rural feel, which means if you're after restaurants and cafes, you'll need to head to nearby towns like Chipping Campden or Moreton-in-Marsh, both within easy driving distance and worth visiting anyway for their market squares and local food.

The distinctive Cotswold stone in every structure around you tells the region's story. For centuries, sheep farming and wool trading shaped this area, which explains the wealth of fine buildings you'll encounter throughout the Cotswolds. Henley works best as part of a broader exploration of the region rather than a destination by itself, but it's a peaceful spot for a few hours of walking or as a quiet place to stay while you discover the wider area.
