Once Upon a Time is a gift shop on Cricklade's High Street, in a historic market town that sits right on the Wiltshire border.
If you're spending time exploring the area, it's worth ducking in to see what's on offer—you'll find a good selection of gifts and unusual finds, and the staff genuinely know how to make visitors feel welcome. It's the kind of place where small-town retail still feels personal.
Cricklade itself deserves more than a quick shop visit. It's the only Saxon-walled town in Wiltshire, so there's genuine history layered into the streets. The River Thames runs through it, which means there are some lovely walks along the water if you fancy stretching your legs. The wider area is good for exploring on foot, whether you're after riverside paths or just wandering through the town itself.
Location-wise, Cricklade works well as a stopping point if you're moving between other Cotswolds spots. Cirencester is about twenty minutes north, while Swindon sits just south, so you could easily string a visit together with either of those towns. It's the kind of place that rewards a proper look around rather than a rushed stop-off.
