Just a short distance from the bustling market town of Lechlade, you'll find a serene natural space perfect for unwinding.
This nature reserve offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the unique flora and fauna of the Upper Thames floodplain. It's a peaceful spot ideal for a leisurely walk, with well-trodden paths that guide you through diverse habitats. Keep an eye out for various bird species, especially water birds and waders, as well as insects and an array of wildflowers that thrive here throughout the seasons. Like many of the nature sites along this stretch of the Thames, the land here often tells a story of the area's geological past, having been carefully transformed to support biodiversity after earlier uses. It’s a rewarding place to spend an hour or two observing nature's quiet rhythm. You can easily combine a visit here with exploring Lechlade itself, or venture further to charming nearby villages such as Little Faringdon, Great Lemhill, Inglesham, Southrop, Fyfield, or Buscot for a fuller day out in this lovely part of Gloucestershire.
