This small village sits in the heart of the Cotswolds between Gloucester and Cheltenham, surrounded by the rolling countryside that defines the region.

Leigh is genuinely modest in scale, with quiet lanes lined by golden stone cottages that look like they've belonged here for centuries. It's the kind of place where you'll wander without a particular destination in mind, which is exactly the point if you're after something peaceful.

What really brings people here is the landscape. You'll find excellent walking routes threading through farmland and woodland, with views across the Severn Valley when the weather's clear. If you're up for something longer, the Cotswolds Way long-distance path runs relatively nearby. The village church rewards a visit if you're interested in local history, and a handful of traditional pubs offer a genuine sense of how the community works.

Leigh functions best as a stop during a wider Cotswolds exploration rather than a destination on its own. Gloucester is only a short drive away when you need proper shops and restaurants, and Cheltenham is equally close if you're looking for anything beyond what the village offers. This is genuinely quiet Cotswolds territory, so come here to escape rather than to tick off attractions. Pack good walking shoes and perhaps a picnic, and you'll get the most from it.
