A small hamlet strung along the Kennet and Avon Canal in Wiltshire's Vale of Pewsey, Honeystreet sits about six miles east of Devizes and exists very much in service to the water.

The canal is genuinely the heart of things here, which makes it ideal if you're drawn to waterway walks or simply want to spend time by the water without much fuss.

The towpath stretches for miles in either direction, connecting seamlessly into the broader network of walking routes through the Cotswolds and well beyond. You'll see narrowboats working their way through regularly, and the local wildlife is genuinely worth paying attention to, especially if you enjoy bird watching. There's a pub positioned right beside the canal where you can settle in with a drink or meal and watch the boats drift past, which genuinely feels like the village's center of gravity.

North of here, the landscape opens out toward the Marlborough Downs, so if you want to combine towpath walking with some easier hill walking, the positioning works well. The neighboring villages of Alton Barnes and Alton Priors are close enough for a further wander if you want to see the local churches and countryside.

It works well as a day-trip base for exploring the canal itself, or as a stopping point during a longer towpath walk. The hamlet remains small and peaceful, which is really what it offers.
