Cocklebury Farm is a bed-and-breakfast run on a working farm in the village of Honeystreet, offering comfortable accommodation in a genuinely peaceful setting.
It's the kind of place where you can actually unwind and experience the countryside without feeling rushed, with views across open farmland and the chance to see how a traditional farm operates day to day.
Honeystreet sits right on the Kennet and Avon Canal, which immediately opens up possibilities for how you spend your time. The towpath is perfect for long walks at whatever pace suits you, and there's something quite absorbing about watching the narrowboats moving along the water. There's a proper pub right on the canal bank if you fancy a meal or a drink with that view.
The location puts you in a good position to explore beyond the immediate area. Pewsey is nearby for everyday shops and services. Devizes, further afield, is worth a visit for its historic marketplace and the dramatic Caen Hill Locks where the canal climbs the hillside in a series of steps. Marlborough's unusually broad high street has character and independent shops worth browsing. The countryside around here is distinctive too, marked by the white horses carved into the chalk hills over the centuries, including the Alton Barnes White Horse. All of this makes it an excellent base for quiet exploration and a genuine escape into rural Wiltshire.
