This small hamlet sits in the far north of Gloucestershire, just a few miles from the borders with Worcestershire and Warwickshire.
It's positioned conveniently between Chipping Campden to the south and Stratford-upon-Avon to the north, making it a useful stopping point if you're exploring the wider Cotswolds region.
Highway itself is modest in size, but it's the kind of place that gives you a genuine sense of rural Cotswold life rather than a polished tourist experience. The surrounding countryside is genuinely lovely for walking, with rolling fields and stone walls typical of the area. If you're interested in local history, the parish church here has some character, and the village sits within the broader context of an area that's been settled since medieval times.
Most visitors use Highway as a base for exploring nearby attractions. Chipping Campden, with its high street of golden stone buildings and working craft studios, is an easy drive or decent walk away. Stratford-upon-Avon is similarly close if Shakespeare connections appeal to you. The vale of Evesham, known for market gardening and fruit farms, sits to the west.
There's a traditional pub here where locals gather, which is a decent spot to get a meal and a sense of how things work in the villages around these parts. It's genuinely worth visiting if you want to experience the Cotswolds beyond the main tourist routes.
