This small village sits in the western Cotswolds, just a few miles south of Marlborough in Wiltshire.
You'll find yourself walking down lanes lined with stone cottages rather than passing through busy commercial areas, which is very much the point of being here.
The village is organized around its green and St Peter's Church, which dates back to the medieval period. If you're interested in church architecture, it's worth spending time looking around the building properly. The surrounding countryside is genuinely lovely for walking, with good footpaths heading out toward the Marlborough Downs. On a clear day, the views across the chalk downland stretch for miles.
Froxfield is small enough that you won't find restaurants or major attractions within the village itself, but that's precisely part of its appeal if you're after peace and quiet. Marlborough, just up the road, has all the proper facilities you might need—pubs, shops, and restaurants—along with the famous public school if you're interested in that side of local history. The wider area offers plenty of walking opportunities, and you're well-positioned for exploring both the Cotswolds and the Wiltshire downs.
It's really a place to use as a base for countryside exploration rather than a destination in itself, but that understated approach is exactly what makes it worth knowing about.
