Forest Hill is a small hamlet where you can genuinely experience the quieter side of the Cotswolds.
The settlement itself is mostly residential, built from the characteristic stone that defines this region, with buildings that feel entirely at home in the gently rolling countryside around them. There's not much here in terms of shops or formal attractions, and that's rather the point.
What draws people here is the chance to step back from the busier parts of the area and enjoy some real peace and quiet. You can wander the country lanes and footpaths at your own pace, taking in the kind of rural landscape that makes the Cotswolds special. It's the sort of place where you'll notice the seasonal changes in the fields, hear birdsong, and remember why the English countryside appeals to so many people.
The hamlet works well as a peaceful base if you're planning to explore the wider region, or as a calm break on a longer journey through the area. When you want something more in the way of food or services, Cirencester and Marlborough are both a short drive away and have plenty of pubs, cafes, and shops to choose from. But if you're after genuine tranquility first and foremost, Forest Hill delivers that in spades.
