This section of the EuroVelo 2 cycling route takes you through some wonderfully gentle countryside, where quiet lanes wind between open fields and patches of ancient woodland.
It's the kind of place where you can really take your time, pedalling at whatever pace suits you, and you'll likely spot wildlife as you go. The landscape feels genuinely rural without being remote—there's a real sense of settling into the rhythm of the area.
One highlight is Chisbury Camp, an Iron Age hillfort that's been standing here for thousands of years. It's a striking place to stop and think about just how long people have been living in these hills. As you cycle, you'll pass old farmhouses and small village churches scattered throughout, each one seeming to have its own local history.
When you need a break or something to eat, you're well positioned. Great Bedwyn is conveniently close by and gives you a proper taste of village life with a good pub option. Hungerford lies a bit further east if you want more choice in shops and cafes, while Marlborough to the west is a proper market town with a bustling high street and wider range of places to stop. Any of these make for a natural pause point in your ride.
