This small Warwickshire village lies about five miles south of Stratford-upon-Avon, deep in what was traditionally hunting country.

As you explore on foot, you'll discover stone cottages scattered along quiet lanes, where rural life continues in much the same way it has for generations.

The most striking feature is Ettington Park, a Victorian Gothic revival house that rises prominently from the landscape and defines the area's character. Though not open to visitors, the estate itself carries considerable local significance, and if you can access the surrounding footpaths, the parkland rewards exploration.

The village's history is closely tied to the Warwickshire Hunt, one of England's oldest fox hunting packs, founded in 1791. The hunt has fundamentally shaped both the landscape and community here, though it's worth noting that attitudes toward field sports have evolved considerably since those early days.

What draws visitors today is the chance to experience authentic countryside rather than staged attractions. This is excellent walking terrain with good connections to the broader Cotswolds path network. Ettington works best when you're exploring the wider region rather than visiting it as a single destination. Stratford-upon-Avon, nearby and well-equipped with everything you'll need, makes the logical base for visiting the village and surrounding area.
