This is a relatively recent residential development on Gloucester's southeastern edge, built on land that was once home to the Gloster Aircraft Company factory and airfield.

If you're drawn to twentieth-century industrial history, the location carries real weight—the airfield and manufacturing plant were major employers in the area and proved crucial during wartime. The original structures have largely disappeared, replaced by modern housing that's been expanding steadily since development began in 2006.

The area is primarily residential, so you won't encounter major tourist attractions here, but it works well as a base if you're exploring Gloucester or travelling toward Cheltenham. Both towns are reasonably accessible—Gloucester city centre sits about three miles away with its cathedral, docks, and museums, while Cheltenham is six miles northwest if you want to see its Regency architecture and cultural scene. Cooper's Hill lies to the southeast, known worldwide for its annual cheese-rolling event that draws crowds from far and wide.

Walkers will find the surrounding countryside gives decent access to the Cotswolds proper, and you're positioned between two substantial towns rather than stranded in isolation. If you need accommodation or want to base yourself somewhere with modern facilities while exploring the wider region, Coopers Edge offers straightforward suburban convenience rather than the traditional Cotswolds experience you might find elsewhere.
