When you're exploring the Cotswolds, set aside time for this remarkable national arboretum, a living collection of trees from across the globe.

You can truly immerse yourself here, wandering well-maintained paths through acres of diverse woodland. Among the many impressive specimens are numerous common yew trees, some centuries old, standing as ancient witnesses to the arboretum's long history and offering deep, verdant beauty year-round.

You can stroll the elevated treetop walkway for a unique canopy perspective, or join a guided walk to learn more. It's captivating in any season, from vibrant spring greens to fiery autumn colours and crisp winter days. The arboretum was first established in the mid-19th century by Robert Holford, who built it from a private collection into what is now an internationally recognised research and conservation centre, managed by Forestry England. It's a short drive from the market towns of Tetbury and Malmesbury, making it an excellent choice for a full day out.
