Stratford-upon-Avon is easily reached for a day trip if Shakespeare's story appeals to you. What makes this location really work is the balance it offers. You get the quiet of village life in the mornings and evenings, which means you can properly unwind, but you're also well-positioned to venture out and explore the wider Cotswolds whenever you feel like it. At the end of each day, you return to somewhere genuinely relaxing rather than just a functional room.
