You'll find this small hamlet tucked into the rolling countryside between Dursley and Wotton-under-Edge, two proper market towns that deserve visits in their own right.
Bournes Green itself is really just a collection of stone cottages and farmland rather than a formal settlement, which is precisely why it appeals to visitors—you get genuine Cotswolds countryside without navigating a busy high street.
The area is excellent for walking. You've got direct access to the Cotswold Water Park trails and the wider network of footpaths spreading across this part of Gloucestershire. The landscape is what you'd expect here: dry stone walls, patches of woodland, and broad views across the valleys. It's the kind of place where sheep graze, old barns have been converted into homes, and the roads stay genuinely quiet.
If you're staying in the hamlet itself, accommodation is mostly self-catering cottages rather than hotels. Most people use it as a base for exploring nearby towns—Dursley has independent shops and a real community feel, while Wotton-under-Edge provides more facilities and its own interesting history. The Forest of Dean is within reach too if you want a bigger day out.
Come here for slow exploring rather than ticking off attractions. It's perfect if you want to experience how people actually live in the Cotswolds rather than just passing through the famous villages.
