This small hamlet sits in the Berkshire Downs, just a few miles south of Wantage, and honestly it's easy to drive straight through without noticing.

But if you take a moment to stop, there's something genuinely worthwhile here.

The main reason to visit is St Nicholas Church, a Grade I listed building from the 12th century. For a settlement this size, it's surprisingly impressive, with original Norman architecture and interior details that tell you a lot about the centuries it's stood here. The churchyard is peaceful and well-kept, giving you a quiet place to sit and enjoy the surrounding countryside.

Beedon sits in good walking country, right at the edge of the Downs with decent access to footpaths that lead to nearby villages. Wantage, about four miles north, has shops, cafes, and restaurants if you need them. To the east, Didcot offers train connections and more typical town facilities.

The hamlet itself is mainly residential, so you won't find much in the way of attractions or services on the ground here. But if you're interested in rural Berkshire and want to experience a genuinely ancient church in an authentic village setting without the crowds, this delivers it. It works well as a stop during a walk or drive through the Downs, or as part of a wider exploration of the area.
