A place of ancient history and natural beauty, this spot offers a wonderful escape in the eastern Cotswolds.
What you'll find here is Badbury Hill, a prominent Iron Age hill fort now cared for by the National Trust. It's a fantastic place for a walk, whether you're exploring the ancient earthworks of the fort itself or wandering through the peaceful woodlands that cover the hill. In spring, the bluebells create a vibrant carpet of colour across the slopes. From the top, you'll get sweeping views across the Vale of White Horse, a truly expansive vista that stretches far into the distance. While there's no grand estate house here, the deep history of human habitation on this site—dating back millennia—gives it a real sense of connection to the past. That heritage links directly to the wider Cotswolds area, known for its historic homes and charming villages. The nearby village of Little Coxwell retains much of that traditional character, and you'll find it just a short distance away. The market town of Faringdon makes a good base for exploring the area. Come for the views, the history, and a refreshing outdoor experience in one of the region's most historically significant landscapes.
