If you're looking for a genuine slice of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, this village is a lovely place to explore.

It’s perhaps best known for its incredible medieval barn, managed by the National Trust. Dating back to the 13th century, this vast structure was built for the monks of Beaulieu Abbey to store grain and produce from their lands. It’s one of England’s finest examples of a medieval tithe barn, truly impressive in its scale and preservation. You can wander inside and really get a sense of history – it’s easy to imagine centuries of agricultural life within its sturdy oak framework and stone walls. William Morris himself admired its beauty, comparing it to a cathedral.

Beyond the barn, the village itself offers pleasant walks through its lanes and past the local church. It's a peaceful spot, perfect for a gentle stroll and enjoying the rural surroundings. For refreshments or further exploration, you’re just a short drive from Faringdon, a larger market town with various amenities. Other nearby spots include Little Coxwell, Fernham, Longcot, Coleshill, and Watchfield, offering more of the local landscape to discover.
