Wanborough is the sort of place you come to when you'd rather not spend the day queuing. It's a village first and foremost, and the pleasures here are small-scale: a walk, a pub lunch, a look at something worth looking at, then home. Within about two miles you'll find eight places to eat and drink, four places to visit, two spots for activities, a shop, a couple of useful services, and a single place to stay, which tells you most of what you need to know about the pace. Come with a loose plan rather than a timetable, and you'll get the best of it.
A good few hours might start with a wander and a drink at the New Calley Arms or The Brewers Arms, both close enough to fold into a morning without much driving between them. From there, Nidum is the obvious thing to build the middle of the day around. If you've brought children, or simply want to work off lunch, the Dorcan Recreation Complex is within easy reach, and The Liden Arms makes a sensible last stop before you head off.
